Erotic Sanskrit poetry existing from 1000 BCE in India, but suffering under British colonial censorship is revived using incorporations from contemporary sciences of Neuroscience, Microbiology and Phytochemistry. The visual aesthetic amalgamates medieval Indian miniature painting from the 15th century and contemporary medical illustrations to convey the erotic affect and imagine the chain reaction of chemicals being processed from food by gut microbes and entering the brain to affect our moods and behaviours as highlighted by research from the Human Microbiome Project (NIH, USA, 2007-2016). In post-human times, the agency to love and be loved resides not in the mythic Divine or in the Anthropocene human, but in the billions of microbes lining the skin and intestines as The Forest on My Flesh.
