Hyper-relations
Erik Nardini Medina
Lara Doswaldo Balaminutti
2021
The present collage, Untitled #1, is part of the series Hyper-relations that discusses hypermediated relationships. The presence of bodies paradoxically united in their absence is addressed from the different types of contrasts of the visual elements presented in the composition (presence and absence, human figure and silhouette of the natural landscape, colors, and textures). The distance between the individuals is seen in the impossibility of "being", at the same time that it brings them together through a metaphysical experience. The associations triggered by images of natural elements, such as the sky, provide the basis for thinking about digital clouds, as well as invisible, silent waves. Employed as metaphors of technological representation, elements of nature become unnatural and emerge as mediators of connections between distant, disembodied, and dematerialized bodies.
